Request A Ride
information needed before requesting a ride
Please note this service is only available for clients that live in the South Shuswap (Sorrento, Blind Bay, Eagle Bay, Notch Hill, Sunnybrae, White Lake, and Tappen)
Please book your ride as far in advance as possible, not less than 48 hours prior to your appointment as the demand for our service as increased and our capacity is limited.
When requesting a ride it is important to indicate the purpose of your appointment as medical appointments are given priority over requests for personal reasons.
If your appointment is in Kamloops, Vernon or Kelowna please make your appointment between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm so we can get you there and back on time as our drivers start at 8:30 and need to be back by 4:30pm.
To book your ride we will need to know the following:
Your name, address, phone number, and emergency contact number
To complete the online form you will need a valid email address. If you have no email perhaps a family member or close friend or neighbour could complete the form for you.
If filling in the form online is not an option, you can still call our dispatcher at:
250-463-4341 to request a ride.The reason for your trip, where you want to go, when you want to go, as well as the expected duration of the trip.
Whether you have any significant mobility issues or medical issues that could affect you during the trip. Please note our vehicle(s) may be too small to accommodate larger wheelchairs.
If you need assistance at your destination, you will need someone to travel with you as the driver cannot provide this service.
How to Request your Ride Online
Step 1
When you know your appointment time, and the date needed for your ride you can contact us to request your ride by:
Clicking on the button below called Open Form and it will take you to a fillable form on our website. You simply type in the information needed in the fields provided (all fields must be completed) and when done click the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the form.
The completed form has been emailed to our dispatcher and you will get an immediate message letting you know the form has been submitted.
If you have any issues completing the form online you can still call our dispatcher at 250-463-4341 to request a ride.
If we have a car and volunteer driver available to fill your request you will receive an email or phone call from our dispatcher confirming your ride. If we are unable to fill your request you will also be notified.
Step 2
Once your ride is confirmed the volunteer driver will:
Contact you with the pickup time the day before your ride
If your address is difficult to find please provide additional information for the driver
Give you a one-time Terms of Service to read and sign when they arrive at your home.

Step 3
Donations from riders are greatly appreciated as there are ongoing costs to provide this service. For details click on the suggested donation schedule below. This schedule and an envelope for your donation will be provided in the car. You can also e-transfer funds from your account to: info@southshuswaprides.ca. No rider will be turned away in the event of a non-donation.
If you need to cancel your ride, or you have any concerns about your trip please call the dispatcher. Please bring any mobility aids such as canes, or walkers, and medications needed.
