It has branches in Sorrento and Sicamous in addition to two branches in Salmon Arm and it is a full-service financial services organization. SASCU is very highly committed to supporting the community it serves. It generously provided a grant to assist us in acquiring our vehicle and setting up our operations.

CSRD

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District is a form of local government that provides a variety of localized services to the electoral areas. Electoral Area C, the South Shuswap our service area is one of the six electoral areas.

The CSRD Board responds to locally expressed needs for service and consults with residents about which services they can provide, where they are to be provided and how the services are to be financed.  A variety of forms of consultation are used, including referenda and the receipt of petitions.

Some services may be provided to only part of an electoral area, while others are provided region-wide.  Costs are recovered through many avenues - taxation, user fees, public admission revenues and government grants.

Our Board of Directors were successful obtaining a grant from the CSRD through the Community Works (gas tax) Fund. This grant funded the construction of a charging station at the Tirecraft in Sorrento. In addition a grant in aid also was also used to assist in the purchase of our electric car. Tirecraft

Tirecraft is a Canadian owned and operated network of tire and mechanical retailers. Founded in Vernon, B.C. in 1968, the Tirecraft brand was purchased in 1990 by Remington Group, whose Town & Country Tire locations were re-branded to become Tirecraft Auto Centres.

Tirecraft has grown to over 300 independently owned locations across Canada, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. The Tirecraft in Sorrento was chosen as the location for the new charging station funded by grants from the CSRD. This charging station located in their parking lot can be used by the public to charge electric vehicles for a small fee. Tirecraft is also providing storage for our vehicle.

Tirecraft and Toyo Tires Canada generously donated a set of winter tires with rims to the Society which will help keep our clients and drivers safe on the road.

Shuswap Community Foundation

The vision of this Foundation “ Uniting those who care with the needs of our community to create a vibrant caring Shuswap” is a perfect partner for our organization. One of their guiding principles is to provide responsible granting that will enrich the life in the Shuswap and respond proactively to community needs.

In 2019, the Foundation helped us provide this much needed transportation service in our community with a much appreciated donation to the South Shuswap Transportation Society .
